Windows 11 Bypass Microsoft Account Requirement

Bypass Microsoft Account Requirement KB ID 0001916

Problem

Microsoft have been pushing for you to have a Microsoft account to login to windows for some time, originally you could open a shell window and use the oobe\bypassnro command, then they stopped that, but you could still add a registry key to bypass the requirement. But now there’s a much simpler way.

Solution : Bypass Microsoft Account Requirement

Some site incorrectly say you need to do this at the beginning of the graphical UI section on the OOBE setup, but that is NOT the case. When you get to the part of the setup that requires you to enter your Microsoft account details, Press Shift + F10 (or Fn + Shift +F10 on mac) to open a command window.

Open command window Bypass Microsoft Account Requirement

Then execute the following command.

start ms-cxh:localonly

Bypass Microsoft Account Requirement

This will launch the local user setup menu you may be familiar with from earlier windows builds (don’t forget to answer the security questions before you try an click next!).

Bypass Microsoft Account Requirement

At this point entering a Microsoft account will be bypassed and the OOBE setup will continue until you are logged on with your local account.
