Problem
While setting up a new HP storage server, I jumped on the iLO and went to setup a new user and password, only to be greeted with this pop-up.
Well I want a seven character password? Not because I’m awkward, but because it’s my iLO password. That and the fact, at three in the morning when the servers go down, I don’t want to be scrabbling about looking for passwords.
Solution
1. You need to navigate to Administration > Access Settings > Minimum Password Length > Change accordingly. This change will apply immediately and does NOT require the iLO to be reset.</p?
Resetting the HP iLO
I made a bunch of other changes, and changed the system to use the dedicated iLO port. This DID require a reset. Navigate to Information > Diagnostics > Reset iLO > Reset.</p?
