Problem
Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network. (An unexpected network error occurred. ). Group Policy processing aborted.
Solution
By default, when a client machine (XP or W2K) attempts to connect to a DC to retrieve group policy information, it first sends a series of ICMP
pings to the DC in order to test connectivity and link speed. If the ping response takes longer than a certain amount of time then the client goes into
a “slow link” mode. If the ping *fails* then the client aborts processing and records error 1054 in the system log.
1. Start Run regedit {enter}
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogon
3. Create a new DWORD Value called “GroupPolicyMinTransferRate” set it to 0
