Cisco 5500 Changing the ASDM Port
Cisco ASA: Error: Unable to reserve port 443 for static PAT
 
Problem

You want to change the port that the Cisco ASDM runs over, or you are attempting to port forward https/ssl and see the following error

Error:
ERROR: unable to reserve port 443 for static PAT
ERROR: unable to download policy

You are trying to port forward (Create a static PAT entry) on a Cisco ASA for port 443 / https. This port is in use by the ASDM.

Solution
Change the port that the ASDM is listening on. (In the following example Ill use TCP port 2456.

User Access Verification

Password:
Type help or '?' for a list of available commands.
PetesASA> en
Password: ********
PetesASA# conf t
PetesASA(config)#
PetesASA(config)# no http server enable <<<<Turn it Off
PetesASA(config)# http server enable 2456 <<<<Turn it ON
PetesASA(config)#
PetesASA(config)# write mem <<<< Save the changes
Building configuration...
