Solution

Exchange store 'First Storage Group\Mailbox Store (SERVER)': The logical size of this database (the logical size equals the physical size of the .edb file and the .stm file minus the logical free space in each) is x GB. This database size is approaching the size limit of x GB.

Cause:


Seen on Exchange 2003 with SP2 - the database is approacing the maximum size and the server is starting to warn you.

Fix:


1. On the Exchange Server Start > Run regedit {enter}

2. Navigate to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\{server name}

3. There will be a sub key called Private-{big long GUID} > Select it.

Note: If your "Public Folder database" is the offender than that will be called Public-Private-{big long GUID}

4. Change the "Default Size Limit in GB" key accordingly. Note: Set the value to Decimal!

Exchange 2003 Database Size Limits

Exchange Standard 2003 Pre SP2 - 16GB
Exchange Standard 2003 Post SP2 - 75GB (SP2 Default 18GB).
Exchange Enterprise 2003 Pre SP2 - 8000 GB
Exchange Enterprise 2003 Post SP2 - 8000 GB (SP2 Default 8000GB).

5. Finally you will need to restart the "Microsoft Exchange Information Store Service", from command line issue the following commands,
