Event ID 1056

Problem
Event ID 1056
Solution

The DHCP service has detected that it is running on a DC and has no credentials configured for use with Dynamic DNS registrations initiated by the

DHCP service. This is not a recommended security configuration. Credentials for Dynamic DNS registrations may be configured using the command line

"netsh dhcp server set dnscredentials" or via the DHCP Administrative tool

Cause:
You need to reset the credentials that DHCP uses.

Fix:
1. Start > run > dhcpmgmt.msc {enter}
2. Right Click the Server > Properties
3. Advanced Tab > Credentials > Enter the domain admin credentials > OK
4. Start > Run > Services.msc > DHCP Server > Right CLick > Restart
5. Start > Run > eventwvr.msc > Make sure that there is not another 1056 Error.
